A Stranger Gives Mom of Two a Needed Boost of Kindness With a Note of Encouragement
Every mother has dealt with their child having a public meltdown, and they all know how difficult it is. For one mother in Bentonville, Arkansas, her two kids having a tantrum at once felt especially defeating.
Devon Linden takes her kids to swim practice every week, but this day was especially hard when both kids started crying.
Linden was nearing tears herself when a nice stranger came out of nowhere to tell her that she’s got this and to also hand her something: an encouraging note.
“In a moment where she saw me struggling, she didn’t pass judgement on me, my kids, my parenting, anything that was happening. She just chose to bless me,” Linden said.
When the mother opened the note in her car, she found another surprise: a $100 bill.
The note said: “Your life and purpose is huge!! Life is so precious. Every day is a gift, so make it count. Enjoy!!”
The kindness from a stranger after a hard day made Linden break down in tears. She later stated this was the kind of person and mom she hopes to be in the future.
“I’m trying to think of what this new decade is going to bring for me, what type of person I can strive to be, and I just thought, I want to be like this lady. I want to be impactful in the best way,” she said.
“Something that I want to show my children too is how to give others grace when they’re having a hard time and pass that on.”
Although she doesn’t know the identity of the woman who blessed her, Linden will always be grateful for the support she received from her. Linden plans to continue passing on acts of kindness.
