Last month, Mondays at the Mission celebrated its 600th class, and Love Button was honored to be recognized during the event. Through Love Button’s donation, the program presented its first $2,000 scholarship to recipient Leah as part of a special legacy award.
A volunteer-led program at Union Rescue Mission, Mondays at the Mission provides career guidance, life-skills education, mentorship, and encouragement to teens experiencing homelessness on Skid Row. These young people need more than basic necessities. They also need hope, meaningful relationships, positive role models, and the reassurance that they are seen, valued, and deeply cared for. That is why this mission remains so close to our hearts.
Seeing Leah receive this support was a powerful reminder of why Love Button continues to invest in the program year after year.
Believing in Leah’s Future
Leah moved to Los Angeles on her own at age 20 with dreams of becoming a nurse. While pursuing that path, she works and volunteers at Union Rescue Mission.
Her courage, perseverance, and willingness to keep moving forward have inspired those around her. As she received the scholarship, Leah was reminded:
“We see you. We believe in you. We are proud of you. And you are not alone.”
The award was a reminder that Leah has a community standing behind her as she continues building her future.
Love Button’s Longstanding Partnership With Mondays at the Mission
Mondays at the Mission supports teens and young adults experiencing homelessness through weekly classes, mentorship, housing assistance, educational opportunities, and career and life-skills development.
Love Button’s relationship with the organization extends beyond this celebration.
During the Los Angeles stop of our global tour with Coldplay, our team spent time with 20 teens in the program, connecting through conversation and learning to play a song together on ukuleles.
Our partnership also continued through the Dream Classroom, a welcoming space created to offer young people creativity, education, encouragement, and hope. We have also shared the story of Creative Director Justine Sophia and the compassion behind Mondays at the Mission’s work.
Continuing the Impact Through Love in Learning
Celebrating 600 classes and helping make Leah’s scholarship possible was another meaningful chapter in a partnership rooted in love in action.
