8-Year-Old Boy Gives His Hair Donation To Young Cancer Patients

An eight-year-old boy named Austin Duffus has been growing out his hair for charity over the past few years. Austin started donating his hair in tribute to his cousin, Brock Faulkner, who died from leukemia. When Faulkner passed, an even younger Austin asked his parents if boys could donate their hair too. His mother— who also gives her hair to charity— reassured him that everyone could. Although sometimes people in public mistaken him for a girl, he says it does not bother him. Austin sends his hair to a Michigan-based charity called “Children with Hair Loss,” who makes wigs for young cancer patients who have lost their hair from a medical condition.
