Love Button on Tour: Making a Difference in Europe

Over the past month, we have made several stops in Europe during our ongoing mission to help local communities on Coldplay’s world tour.

Here are the highlights in each city!

Revitalizing Nature and Battling Food Waste in Rome

The heat didn’t stop our team from having an unforgettable time in Rome. The city’s timeless beauty speaks for itself, but organizations like Ridaje and RECUP are working tirelessly to create the best Rome possible.

Ridaje may be a young organization, but their mission is powerful. Instead of relying on big companies, they train former street homeless individuals to become urban gardeners. This initiative not only revitalizes nature but also restores dignity to those who have faced homelessness, providing them with skills and a renewed sense of purpose.

RECUP is equally inspiring, continuing their fight against food waste in the bustling markets of Italy. Each year, these markets discard tons of food that is often still perfectly edible. Recup educates the public on the difference between what we think is inedible and what actually is, challenging misconceptions about food waste. With the surplus produce they collect, Recup sets up markets where anyone in need can shop for free, ensuring that no food goes to waste and that everyone has access to fresh, nutritious produce.

The Love Button Rome team was honored to volunteer alongside these incredible organizations, witnessing firsthand the positive impact they make.

Serving the Community in Düsseldorf

The next stop was Düsseldorf, Germany! Our volunteers had a wonderful 2 days working with Diakonie Düsseldorf Karriere and Tafel (Düsseldorf), two organizations leading the charge in building unified communities.

On day one, volunteers worked with Tafel who operates multiple locations across the city, collecting over 50 tons of food weekly from local markets and grocers. This food is then distributed to more than 10,000 people, ensuring they have access to nutritious meals. Our volunteers were thrilled to help serve customers across several locations, witnessing the impact of this vital work firsthand.

On our second day, we helped organize a fun fair for families with Diakonie Düsseldorf Karriere. This organization has been a community cornerstone in Düsseldorf for over a century, bringing together people from diverse backgrounds to create a beautiful, unified community. The day was filled with love and learning, as families from over 40 different cultural backgrounds came together to celebrate and enjoy the festivities.
