Volunteers Gleaning for Good with FareStart and the Bellevue Urban Garden

Hello Seattle! Our world tour with Coldplay has brought us back to the United States, and it feels fantastic to be here again. This time, we’ve ventured outdoors to help spread love for a beautiful city known for its lush greenery.

Our volunteers’ mission for the day was clear: gleaning. The Bellevue Urban Garden, known for growing remarkable and nutritious crops, has dedicated its harvest to a meaningful cause. They generously donate their produce to another organization called FareStart for their mobile markets. FareStart, in turn, activates these markets in lower-income areas and distributes the food entirely free of charge.

The impact of this initiative is profound. The people who face food insecurity in these communities not only receive food but nutritious food that can make a real difference in their lives. The numbers speak volumes: FareStart distributes a staggering 2,100 pounds of food every week, feeding over 120 families. It’s a testament to the power of community and compassion coming together.

FareStart’s mobile markets project is just one of the many ways they make a positive impact in the Seattle area. Their dedication to addressing food insecurity and providing nutritious options echoes the values of love and giving that we hold dear.
